Gifu Student Exchange Highlights
|
Cincinnati had the honor of hosting 19 students from Gifu, Japan from March 27th - April 3rd. Celebrating 20 years of sister city relations with Gifu City, the Gifu Exchange Association, on behalf of the Gifu City Mayor's office, presented Mayor Mallory with a gift and an invitational letter to visit Gifu, Japan. Baseball, historically a favorite past time for both America and Japan; Cincinnati Reds rolled out the red carpet where everyone enjoyed hot dogs viewing batting practice the day before the season opener. Even though a majority of their time here was spent during spring recess, SCPA, Walnut Hills and Academy of World Languages welcomed all 19 students two days before their return to Japan rapping it up with a wonderful afternoon picnicking in Eden Park.
This year's exchange would not have been possible without the generosity of the following organizations:
The City of Cincinnati Mayors Office Cincinnati Reds Delta Airlines Academy of World Languages School of Creative and Performing Arts Walnut Hills High School
A SPECIAL THANK YOU to the Cincinnati Police Department for going above and beyond the meaning of Ambassador. The Mounted Patrol Squad exercised their generosity to the fullest capacity with special escorts and individual photos for all the students. Thank you.
My sincerest appreciation goes out to all the families that hosted one, two and even three students! This required a major time commitment; sharing, communicating, transporting to activities and meetings. Our "hat's off" or our most humblest bow to:
The Adriatico's The Ciraci's The Coot's The Garrabrant's The Hammelroth's The Klem's The McIntyre's The Morton's The Nakamura's The Shunditch's The Streicher's
